Thermal Interface Materials

The PVA-5GPU Hydraulic Extrusion Pump is a heavy-duty extrusion pump designed specifically for extruding thermal interface materials (TIM) to a dispense head. TIM materials are generally heavily filled; extremely abrasive pastes that require specialized processing equipment in order to prevent separation and degradation of the material mechanical properties and performance.

The PVA-5GPU provides an optimal solution for processing TIM materials by “extruding” the material from a 5-gallon pail using a hydraulic ram cylinder rather than pumping using a traditional reciprocating pail pump. Requiring no internal moving parts, the PVA-5GPU efficiently transfers the material without altering the material properties and with virtually zero maintenance required.

Thermal Interface Materials

A thermal interface material (“TIM”) fills gaps between mating surfaces with a substance that improves thermal conductivity beyond the air that would have otherwise filled that gap. The TIM acts as a conductive bridge that greatly improves heat transfer between between a heat-generating device (e.g. an integrated circuit) and a heat-dissipating device (e.g. a heat sink).
