PVA Robots Bring Technology to Consumer Products
The nondescript, low-slung industrial building with the letters PVA is easily missed as motorists head up Route 9 toward the Mohawk River bridge. But if you’ve used a dashboard touch screen, or a smartphone, chances are a machine manufactured here helped produce it. Precision Valve & Automation has been producing valves and robots for a quarter-century. Founded by Pittsfield, Mass., native Tony Hynes, the privately held company has grown to 230 employees worldwide, 190 of them at its plant and headquarters off Route 9 in Colonie.
Hynes touts the Capital Region’s workforce, praising the basic work ethic, as well as the local educational institutions that produce the skilled engineers and technicians PVA employs.
